Verify identity through several sources
Compare the chassis label, firmware screen, operating-system device page, storage capacity, display mode, and seller listing. One screen can be modified or misunderstood.
Look for intermittent behavior
Move the lid, connect power, flex no ports, wake from sleep, use each key, and let the machine warm up. Many used-device problems do not appear in a two-minute static check.
Price the uncertainty
When battery, repair history, liquid exposure, activation lock, firmware password, or ownership cannot be verified, treat that uncertainty as a cost or a reason to walk away.
